Carly Simon Hints at Who Is "So Vain"

For nearly 40 years, fans have guessed that the haughty lover in You're So Vain was one of Carly Simon's famous exes: Warren Beatty, Mick Jagger, Kris Kristofferson or Cat Stevens. But the real man, supposedly, is David Geffen, the openly gay co-founder of DreamWorks SKG and the head of Simon's then-record label, Elektra.
In an interview with Uncut magazine, Simon, 64, says a remastered version of the track reveals "the answer."

"I'm just going to tell you this," the singer said. "The answer is on the new version of You're So Vain. There's a little whisper — and it's the answer to the puzzle." But that "whisper" can  be heard only by playing the track backward. The name whispered: "David." (Listen to the clip here.)
The New York Post mentioned and eliminated musicians David Cassidy and David Bowie. Britain's The Sun was the first to claim it's Geffen. Simon supposedly resented the attention Geffen, now 67, lavished on promoting her folk music rival Joni Mitchell.

This is an awesome twist to what I and millions of others thought was some sort of lovers' quarrel, when in actuality, it would appear to be friendship and business rivalry. And it makes perfect sense: He loved, nurtured and lavished attention on her when she was the "next big thing," only to leave her and do the same for Joni Mitchell. That's enough to make anyone bitter and angry.

In actuality, this failed relationship ended up being quite different than anything any of us had probably ever thought of. Great twist!

Catherine Bell Expecting Second Child

Army Wives actress Catherine Bell, 41, has confirmed to People.com that she is expecting her second child with husband Adam Beason.

"I'm so excited to be having a baby boy," says Bell, who has a 6-year-old daughter, Gemma. "She has been asking for a sibling for a long time. I'll be sure to remind her of that when it's time to change his diapers."

Simon Cowell Engaged!

Simon Cowell and Ryan Seacrest joked about it during Tuesday night's "American Idol" broadcast, and rumors have been floating around the Internet for days, but now the news is official: The prickly reality-show judge is engaged.

Cowell is set to marry Mezhgan Hussainy, a makeup artist he's been dating for nearly a year, the future Mrs. Cowell told RadarOnline. The 36-year-old Afghanistan-born Hussainy had been spotted with a massive diamond on her finger following a Valentine's Day dinner, setting off a stream of speculation about whether the 50-year-old Cowell had finally decided to settle down.

Cowell was previously in a long-term relationship with entertainment correspondent Terri Seymour.

Being Erica's Resident Rock Star

Sebastian Pigott, who plays Kai Booker on SOAPnet’s “Being Erica,” is not a household name in the U.S. like he is in his native Canada — yet. Sebastian, who made it to the finals of “Canadian Idol” in 2008, is a singer, songwriter and actor who is well on his way to capturing the hearts of American viewers. This week especially is an important week for his alter ego, Kai, as we learn more about his past when Erica travels into the future (at a time that is actually Kai’s past — confusing on paper, but it all makes sense on the screen).

But let’s back up a few years to “Canadian Idol.” Sebastian describes the experience as “really surreal, and an intense kind of experience — a real baptism by fire. It was a crash course; you can’t buy that kind of experience. It actually took me a while to recover from.”

He is grateful for everything the show gave him and taught him. “A great thing about ‘Canadian Idol’ is it really made me get my ass in gear and take (singing and songwriting) seriously and really work at it. If you want to do something well as a professional, you have to have discipline and work hard.

“I was acting in earnest for a good three or four years before I did ‘Canadian Idol.’
That’s another thing you have to give credit to the show for, because since then, I’ve been working solidly.”

Sebastian got his musical start pretty early in life. He explains: “My mother is kind of a Bohemian. My father passed away when I was 7, so she decided to up and move us to Portugal. We lived there for about five years, and that’s where my brother and I started playing. That’s when we got our first guitars and keyboard.

“I remember I was 8 years old, and by the time I was 10, we got gigs playing up and down the tourist spots along the coast — these two little Canadian boys. As an artist, it helps to have unique things like this in your past, it helps to give you a different perspective.”

Playing a tortured artist like Kai has also given Sebastian a different perspective. Kai has returned to his past, which is Erica’s present day, to try to fix a huge regret. “He is really messed up. I get the impression he is really decent dude, and he’s got a lot going on, but he is just really messed up. He is going through something that others can only imagine.

“It must be an insane experience. He’s reunited with his friend (who is Kai’s present day has committed suicide). To me, Kai’s whole story line is a love story, the love he has for his friend. Even just to fantasized about what it must be like to be reunited with someone you had lost, I just think his head is spinning. He is in a freefall and he is just grabbing for branches.”

As Erica had to do at the end of the first season, Kai is wrestling with the fact that he can’t change the past. It’s difficult, as Sebastian explains, because “he’s there with his best friend again, he’s alive, and he doesn’t care about the rules or what’s right and wrong. He wants to do it his way.”

This season marks a “first” for Erica, because she finally gets to meet someone who is experiencing the same kind of unique therapy that she is going through. “Erica has become a part of Kai’s therapy. She is certainly helping him through it. Kai’s effect on her life is a little less intangible; he shows her that there is other stuff out there. She sees a kindred spirit in Kai, and she digs it.”

Don’t forget to watch “Being Erica” on SOAPnet every Wednesday night at 10 p.m., and see if you dig it too.

Actor Andrew Koenig's Body Found in Vancouver Park

UPDATE:

Actor Andrew Koenig, who had been missing since February 14, committed suicide, his father told reporters after his son's body was found Thursday in a park in Vancouver, British Columbia.

"My son took his own life," Walter Koenig said at a news conference in the park.

The body of the former "Growing Pains" star was found by several friends who conducted their own search of Stanley Park, where Andrew Koenig liked to walk, his father said.

Koenig, 41, was reported missing by his parents after he did not board a flight to Los Angeles from Vancouver last week.

Walter Koenig -- himself an actor, known for his role as Pavel Chekov in the "Star Trek" series -- flew to Vancouver with his wife, Judy, on Tuesday to help with the search.

"He was obviously in a lot of pain," Walter Koenig said.

The Koenigs said they received a letter from their son last week in which he wrote in a "despondent tone."

He had stopped taking medication for depression about a year ago, his father said.

Unknown to his parents at the time, Andrew Koenig sold or gave away many of his possessions and moved out of his apartment in Venice, California, before traveling to Canada, the family said.

Walter Koenig was helping the friends "get another sweep of Stanley Park" Thursday morning and was nearby when they found his son, he said.

Koenig asked others who may be considering suicide "before you make that final decision, check it out again, and talk to someone."

"If you're one of those people who can't handle it anymore, you know, if you can learn anything from this, there are people out there who really care," he said. "You may not think so and ultimately it may not be enough, but there are people who really care."

Families of those who are troubled should not ignore the warning signs, he said. "Don't ignore it, don't rationalize it," he said.

Charlie Sheen Enters Rehab

(from the Associated Press)

CBS is temporarily halting production of television's top-rated comedy, Two and a Half Men, following news from Charlie Sheen's publicist that the actor is in rehab and is taking a break from the show.

Publicist Stan Rosenfield announced Tuesday that Sheen has entered a rehab facility "as a preventative measure." He asked for privacy for Sheen, 44, but did not specify why the embattled actor was seeking treatment.

Sheen's bosses expressed support for the actor in a statement that said they were temporarily stopping production of the show.

"CBS, Warner Bros. Television and (Executive Producer) Chuck Lorre support Charlie Sheen in his decision today to begin voluntary inpatient care at a treatment center," the statement said. "We wish him nothing but the best as he deals with this personal matter."

The statement offered no timetable for when the show would resume taping.

Celebrity Q&A, Feb. 24

Q: When will my favorite show, Army Wives, be back for the new season? I’m going through some serious withdrawals here! — Cassandra F., via e-mail

A: Your wait isn’t much longer. Lifetime Television’s highest-rated series ever, Army Wives, will be back for its fourth season on Sunday, April 11, with 18 brand-new episodes. Seasons 1 to 3 are now available on DVD, so you have a month or so to catch up on anything you might have missed. (photo courtesy Lifetime Television)

Q: Last month, the advertising promos for Little People, Big World said the last show would be airing soon. I pray it means just for this season and not the FINAL show. This family has taught so many of us to be aware of little people (the way we should have been) and how many of us just did not realize how ignorant we were. My family loves the Roloff family and how honest they are about everything, and watching their children grow up is like seeing friends’ children grow up. We appreciate Matt and Amy opening up their lives, as we learn along with them and their children. — Bea K. in Canada

A: According to TLC, these were just the “last episodes” of the first half of the fifth season. Little People, Big World has gone on a winter hiatus, like many shows have been doing lately, but they will be back to finish out the season. The second half of Season 5 is scheduled to begin airing in April.

Q: I thought Ricky Gervais did a bang-up job hosting the Golden Globe Awards. Is there any chance he’ll pay a visit to The Office? — Kristin W., via e-mail

A: There is a very good chance of that happening. Ricky Gervais — who co-created the original U.K. version of the show as well as the American version with Stephen Merchant — has already made directing and writing “appearances” on the U.S. show. Ricky recently told the U.K. television show This Morning: “I quite like the idea that Michael Scott bumps into this guy [David Brent, the boss of the U.K. version of The Office] and takes him back to the office as the best bloke ever, and the office goes, 'Oh my God, there’s two of them.’ It would be devastating for the people in the office.”

Q: Back in the 1950s, there was a 15-minute sitcom called Life with Elizabeth. I remember that Betty White was the star, but I never see it mentioned when I read about her career. Was she the star, and who was the male lead? — Gerry F., Tennessee Ridge, Tenn.

A: You have quite a memory! The great Betty White did indeed play the role of Elizabeth, with Del Moore playing her husband, Alvin. Life With Elizabeth aired from 1953-55, and the DVDs can be found on amazon.com and various other online sources. You also can watch nine episodes for free at tv4u.com.

Pattinson "Reportedly" Confirms Stewart Romance Rumours

(from WENN News)

Twilight hunk Robert Pattinson has reportedly confirmed he is dating co-star Kristen Stewart, ending months of speculation.

The Brit has been romantically linked to Stewart ever since the pair starred in the first movie in the vampire franchise together in 2008.

The actors have constantly dodged questions about their love lives, but now Pattinson has allegedly announced he's dating the American star.

The pair both attended the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards in London on Sunday, where Stewart picked up the Orange Rising Star trophy.

Both Pattinson and Stewart kept their distance at the ceremony at the British capital's Royal Opera House, but were later spotted leaving the afterparty at Grosvenor House together.

And the actor has now admitted he is in a relationship with Stewart, but explains they have to stay apart for the sake of their fans.

He reportedly tells Britain's The Sun newspaper, "It is extremely difficult but we are together, yes. We can't arrive at the same time because of the fans. It goes crazy. This was supposed to be a public appearance as a couple but it's impossible. We are here together and it's a public event but it's not easy. We have to do all this stuff to avoid attention." »
